President Address March 2018
Ladies,
I have been very proud and really enjoyed being your president during the last year as I hope you have enjoyed being part of the Worksop Wonders WI. If I've made any mistakes during the year I apologise to you and the Federation and will learn from them for the future.
I think, and I hope you do too, that we have had an interesting and fun year. We have tried some new things and taken part in different events. We couldn't have done this without the commitment and work of a great committee.
So on behalf of the members, and myself, I want to thank our Secretary & Vice President, Pam for the invaluable advice, work, backing and help she has given me throughout the year, particularly recently. Also Stella for doing a great job taking and typing the minutes.Vicky, I think has the hardest and most demanding responsibilty as treasurer, and as ever has done a stirling job, for which I thank you. I hope you'll consider carrying on next year.
Thank you Anne for being our Tea Hostess and organising a wonderful spread for our birthday party and for making sure we have refreshments throughout the year, including making our lovely table cloth and banner.
Thank you Sue for keeping us on track with the register and signing in at each meeting and thank you for the fantastic Birthday Cake.
Thank you Yvonne for your work with the internet, media and publicity. We now have a great facebook page and new website which has helped raise our profile.
Last but not least thank you to Chris for organising our events, one we have still got to look forward to. I know you've got some great ideas for the coming year, so I hope you'll carry on on the committee.
Although she is not officially on the committee, one lady requires our gratitude, Kate TC works non stop behind the scenes for us, mainly doing the raffle each month but also helping with the 'crafty' stuff and assisting us with other activities that we have taken part in this year. Thank you.
Thank you everyone for taking on board and running with our ideas, for your baking, donations and your continued involvement and support.
I would also like to thank everyone for your help, support, thoughts, best wishes and prayers during the last month. I have to admit it has been scary to say the least, but knowing that you have so many friends rooting for you really does make a difference and I hope you'll make allowances for me until I get the all clear – hopefully in the near future.
Thank you.

Well done ladies .

Update May 2018 --letter from Manager of the Food bank
Dear Arlene and all at Worksop Wonders WI
On behalf of Bassetlaw Food Bank I would like to thank you and all the members of the Worksop Wonders WI for the large donation of food you have collected over the last year as part of your centenary celebrations. Over this period of time you set yourselves a target of providing Bassetlaw Food Bank with 100 bags of shopping. You actually donated 129 bags of shopping which for us was an amazing amount which has greatly helped the charity continue its much needed work across the district. Your donations were also very well thought through providing items from our shortage list, which of course went a long way into refilling our emptying shelves.
As you are already aware this is not a good time of year for some people in our local community with the recent bad weather we have experienced it has left some people on zero hour contracts short of work, with high fuel bills and also the circulation of council tax bills which have risen around 4.6%. We have also seen the roll out across the district of the new Universal Credit Full Service which took place mid December. The process of applying for this benefit impacts on all not only the unemployed and sick but working people including many families. We currently have no idea what impact this is going to have throughout the coming year on the demand for the food bank but early signs are not good. We have been working hard to prepare for any increase to make sure we are able to support the right people at the right time when they need it most.
I would be very grateful if you could share our enormous thanks with all at the Worksop Wonders WI as we really do appreciate this kind of support to our work.
Best Wishes
Paula
